Raiatea Lodge Sunset Pier with La Sardina

8

Sunsets are always beautiful moments to shoot. During my Sardina test shotings, I went one late afternoon to the Raiatea Lodge Sunset Pier, a magical place!

When looking for a magical scenery, for a shoot, for a romantic moment with your love or to enjoy the day with some friends, sunsets are one of these eternally beautiful moments. Every time I see one I’m fascinated as if I’d never seen one before!

Here on Raiatea Island, we have a very long west coast and the sunsets there are always stunning. One of the best places is the Raiatea Lodge Sunset Pier; This hotel as a great location, just in front of the sunset and has a long pier on the lagoon to admire the moment. As I went there in the late afternoon, there were some friends and their kids, spending a relaxing moment at the end of the day. Of course, the kids spent the whole time jumping into the water from the pier. It was a great shooting opportunity with the Sardina! The wide angle lens allowed me to catch the whole jumping action on a little pier without problems.

Later on, the sun began to set, showing amazing colors and a beautiful soft light. The sky and the clouds played with the light and the colors, while the sun was slowly disappearing. Some kayaks or boats were crossing the sun’s light and it’s just the best situation to take great shots! And I must say that the Sardina handled the “shooting in the sun” very well, with some strange sun flares adding to the beauty of the moment. 1/2 hour later it was dark, the sun was gone and the dark night took over.

@ramonherver: no, didn't make any modification, it's just the strong light of the sun that provokes this vignetting effect...
