We are most familiar with his cross-processed shots brimming with colour and life. He’s one enthusiastic Lomographer and his amazing film photographs give proof to that!

Coming from Singapore, we have been eyeing and adoring this guy’s Lomographs! And it’s just really great that a lot of traveling is also involved in his work. Just awesome for our eyes! Coming from Singapore, dabai is this week’s LomoGuru!

Tell us something about yourself… What do you do for a living? What are your main interests?

Hi everyone! I am from the small island of Singapore in the South East of Asia. I am working as a quality engineer at one of the pharmaceutical companies here. My main interests are eating, running and of course, traveling and photography, which is a great match together!

Tell us something about your LomoHome’s name.

My username is the abbreviation for chinese cabbage which was a random nickname given by my classmates in the university. It was easy to remember and everyone started to call me by that name from then!

Some of his most popular work.

Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.

My most memorable experience happened when I just joined the Lomographic Community. A Lomographer from Uruguay saw my photos and asked if I would like to contribute some of them to a Lomography exhibition in her town. I was really honored to be invited and contribute my work especially that I was still a newbie then.

Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends?

I have met a few people from the Community in Singapore but I still hang out more with my friends to shoot.

Stunning doubles with grad, miss_maha, and susielomovitz!

Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?

DEFINITELY! I love the cameras that Lomography has been producing these few years and the feeling of shooting with film is so much more fun and rewarding than shooting in digital.

What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?

My favorite has got to be LC-A+. It is a small and light camera that you can bring around easily for holidays. The quality of the images produced by this camera never fails to amaze me even after using it for a few years!

Can’t help but fall in love with his LC-A+ shots!

Please share your most favourite Lomographic photo that you took and explain why.

This shot was one of the first few times where i started playing with the multiple exposure function on the LC-A+ and the end result was totally unexpected!

Please share a Lomograph you wish you took and explain why.

I really wished I had taken a Lomograph when I climbed the summit of Mount Kinabalu (a 4.1km high mountain in Malaysia) earlier this year. The view up there in the clouds was mind-blowing but I did not bring any camera up with me because I wanted to lighten the load.

What’s the best Lomographic or photography advice you think you have given?

Think before you shoot! (even if I know that it contradicts one of the rules of Lomography!)

If there’s one song or movie that best describes your Lomo life, what is that and why?

Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding

Just enjoy yourself and experiment with photography. There are so many types and techniques that you can play with and you might be surprised with the results you can achieve!

Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?

My advice is to shoot, shoot, and shoot! Try to find friends who share the same love about shooting as you and you will find yourself enjoying the process of learning more about analogue photography with them.

Do you think you’re qualified as a LomoGuru? Got something to share in our Community? Then drop me a line at mayee.gonzales@lomography.com and you might become the next LomoGuru!
