shared by wil6ka on 2008-12-29In the wildlife of cameras we tend to protect only the big ones. Lets pay some attention to the tiniest of these lttle fellows, who suffer from their freakish appearance. The Demekin comes from the Japanese Foto-Afficinados, aeh ...- Afishinados Superheadz and it is called after a Japanese Goldfish. This fits - it is as tiny as "Gluck-Gluck" and it has a fisheye lens as big as the whole body. No - that is not correct: "It has a Fisheye lens as big as the whole body - without the film." Because the clou is, that the film is the body! The demekin needs 110 pocketfilm, which is plugged behind the lens and so 2/3 of the film is outside the camera. There is only a little window where the film is exposed to the camera, so the rest ist an extension of the very body. With this tinyness it is a perfect asset to your fleat of cameras you have anyway, because it doesn't take much space. You still get 110 Pockefilm in many stores and at eBay, but certainly it is a dying bread, which was used for subminature cameras in the sixties. There was a fashion of tiny spy-cameras, because it was oh so exciting. Say hello to James Bond and the KGB. The Pictureframe of the demekin is square and the films can be developed almost everywhere. A con-point for me is, that I had to order prints. But the negatives are so tiny, that you can't really scan them. So this might be a bit expensive, hence a pocketfilm mostly has only 24 exposures. There is not apperature so you should use it in good light conditions. But it has a tripod-mount, so this is a plus-point. The Demekin is a fun camera and raises a lot of attention - because it is like walking a blue dog through the park. And supporting these dying bread of little fellows really makes you earn karma-points and more attractive to the girls. Well, that is at least my experience.
