A lot of photographers are using expired film, just because is fun and results are unpredictable. Here are a couple of toughts about storing expired film and letting it expire as it should be.
First of all, Kodak says that if you properly store film, even after it’s expiration date, this will not have a noticeable result on the images. Properly stored means in subzero conditions.
If you want to make yourself expired film, you have to think about what you want to do with it after. If you want natural colors, store it in the fridge and you can use it even after 10 years.
If you want saturated colors you have to store it at room temperature, out of the sun and in waterproof conditions, in a velcro bag.
I can’t guarantee it will work every time, all I can say is that it worked for me. I usually stored film out of it’s expiration date, of 100 ISO, usually Kodak Gold and Fuji Superia.
