How to Get 13 Photos with the LC-A 120
18 31 Share TweetWith the right film and a little trick, I sometimes get 13 photos in one roll with the LC-A 120. Let me show you how with this simple tutorial.
Before I load the Lomo LC-A 120 with medium format film, I tear off 10 to 12 centimeters of the paper. I got this idea because the thickness of the spool determines how wide the intervals between the pictures are. By removing the paper the spool becomes thinner and this is why you easily get 12 pictures in one roll of film, and sometimes even 13.
Nevertheless, you should take precautions so as not to tear off too much paper as you can’t spool in the film properly if too much is torn off. You can fix the end with sticky tape on the spool, of course.
And then I closed the back of the camera. After the 12th photo, I take note of where the marks of the transport wheel are and turn the wheel one turn further. I then set the camera to MX which is very important as the aperture won’t open otherwise. After this, I take one photo and I’m excited if I got the 13th picture on the film.
Of course, there are sometimes overlaps or only a half of a 13th picture, but for me, it is always worth a try and I never was annoyed with one of these “mistakes”.
Here are 13 photos I took with the LC-A 120 and one roll of film:
