Here are some pictures from Polonia Fest, earlier this month in Jefferson Park Illinois (it is a neighborhood in the city of Chicago). The event is put on by the Copernicus Center every year (the Copernicus center is a Polish arts and culture venue, which features Polish opera, Polish ballet, and speakers) and is billed as the "Largest Polish Gathering in the USA." If you overlook the three stages of music featuring death-metal bands screaming in Polish, it's a pretty normal festival for Chicago. We live in an incredibly diverse city, so entire neighborhoods will show up for "Polish Independence Day," "Kasimir Pulaski Day," "Mexican Independence Day," "Bastille Day," etc. etc. Chicagoans will take any reason to party and enjoy good food!! I thought the statue of Thomas Jefferson with the beer koozie was pretty funny. It's sitting on top of the constitution of the United States. Again, since my computer is acting up, I'll post the technical details in the photo description. Camera: Holga 120 S Film: Fuji Velvia 120, Expired 2007.
