Going rural in Malta brings nice details to the light - small police posts where the flag gets hissed during opening hours by the officer, a nun who was happy to show us around in her domicile, just old stones everywhere, plenty of silence, the sea and a very important plant for Malta - the reverse osmosis plant. Crucial as Malta has not much of a water supply other than sea water. They do advise the visitor in summer to drink wine rather than water as the latter is rare ;-)
