i have really no clue why focus on infinity is so weak in sharpness. it drives me crazy.

hast du schon mal probiert nich ganz bis auf unendlich zu drehen.. sondern bis kurz davor?? hab ich mal irgendwo gelesen daß es helfen soll.. bei mir is mir das mit der unschärfe noch nicht aufgefallen auf unendlich

Mir ist noch gar kein scharfes Bild mit der Belair gelungen ;-)

I have the same problem with the infinity focus on my City Slicker. Try counting a few "bumps" before the infinity mark. It may help or make things worse.
