National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Every year, on the date of the l’École Polytechnique murders in 1989, Anti-Violence Project and the Womens' Center hang these t-shirts painted with messages by and for female victims of violence up around the Quad.
However, the university pulled funding this year and the event could not have the usual speakers, ceremony, or class cancellation.
It didn't stop volunteers from coming out and raising awareness, but it did send an ugly message from the university; that violence against women was no longer enough of an issue to warrant a formal remembrance ceremony--one that had been happening for years.
