I was asked if I had "beach" themed photos for an upcoming exhibition in Toulouse. I said "yes" when, in fact, I had nothing. So, I quickly shot the "tops" of a few rolls of photos in the city, before visiting the beach to shoot the bottoms. And, thus, the "Reclamation" series was born.

  • Contact Sheet #2 - More Old Houses

    Partilhado por %{user on 2017-01-09

Some contact sheets I made for a Holga project. Looking at them now, I realize that I had a fierce light leak in my camera that I must have (somehow) fixed when I covered it in zebra-stripe fabric. I want that light leak back! My camera works too well now. ^__~

This was the innagural run of the "Pika-cam," a toy Pikachu camera that actually works! I love pokemon, and I love photography, so why not combine the two? The camera has a lot of lens distortion and is really best suited for snapshots and selfies. I took a lot of photos after dark at Pier 57, so I ordered the film to be push processed by two stops. The push processing resulted in the enhanced film grain you see here.

That one time I ruined a roll of precious Lomochrome Purple... I am SO disappointment in myself. This is what experimental photography is all about, folks! There are no mistakes, just "learning opportunities." That said, I am pretty mad that my lomochrome purple *jammed*inside of my Holga, and forced the back of the camera to pop off (I lost the metal clips that keep the back on - it's held together with rubber bands). The resulting light leak is from my film being exposed to direct sunlight for a few seconds. Not what I wanted to happen, but here we are. ^__~

Hi folks! Here are the results of a daring Lomo-experiment with the amazing @furn7973. Film swaps are fun, but using expensive, rare, or hard-to-find film turns the pressure up to 11. One of @furn's specialities is the awesome infrachrome 400 film. I have used the film myself, and thought it would be a particularly challenging double-exposure project. If I were to do it over, I would probably use a darker filter for my images, as this film is *extremely* light sensitive. I primarily double-exposed with another relic; ORIGINAL Polaroid 669 peel-apart film. Some of the exposures never exposed, so I decided to turn them into a new project, rather than wasting the film.

I seem to have absolutely the worst luck with lomochrome purple. Every time I get my hands on one of these precious rolls, some technical problem arises that makes me think I lost my images. In this case, the winding spool broke inside of the film cannister. Thinking my film was done winding, I opened the back of the camera and accidentally exposed a bunch of the film. Ugh!! At least it's resiliant, and can tolerate brief periods of light exposure. Pictures are of me and my talented friends A and E, who both took pictures and posed. A used a canon AE 1 and E uses a Nikkormat.

Another roll of infra-red film that I needed to use up before the leaves all fell off the trees. We have been having a lovely, warm autumn here in Minnesota, and I'm glad I got around to using my InfraChrome. Pictures were all taken with a Kodak Wratten #15 Yellow filter in my Ultra Wide and Slim. My friend A. was wearing dark green and fuscia lipstick, I was wearing head to toe black and blue lipstick. I was seriously surprised to see what black looks like with this film!

New friends! Ralph und Florian. I was at Art Therapy supervision two weeks ago (I am a therapist, professionally) and our assignement was to create "mobile art." I commandered the art studio and some items found within it, and made a series of pictures with two lovely fellows I shall name Ralph und Florian. Shot on a Canon F1 with very expired film, indoors, after dark. All pictures taken on "bulb" mode, or 1/8.

I decided to try and take advantage of the unique shape that the vivitar IC 101 Panorama gives to photos. Some of my ideas turned out great, and some of them were only "meh." I will keep working at it to get the most out of the panorama view.

Winter in the city - hand-rolled redscale Fuji Velvia. I hadn't actually intended to redscale my velvia, but it got mixed up inside my rolling bag. Since it is a slow film, it required a TON of sunlight to develop properly. I like how intensely red everything turned out. It really warms up the view considering that they day I took these, it was -15 degrees Fahrenheit.

Took some pictures on a sunny and bright June day using my Zenit Helios lens. I am officially in looooooooove... look at that buttery, swirly bokah! Mmmwah. The only downside to using this lens is that if it's a really bright day, you need a shutter speed of 1/1000th or more so your images aren't burned-out. I would also recommend using a low ISO film, such as an ISO 100 or 50

A few pictures I took of a friend this winter. I used some very old "homelife" brand film, which I suspect is actually Konica. It was very difficult finding days with enough direct sunlight to take good double exposures this winter, as it seemed overcast for months straight. I usually use very expired film, so I need all the light I can find.
